Community Manager

Overview

The Community Manager will play a pivotal role in managing HealthAI’s upcoming Community of Practice (CoP), fostering collaboration, facilitating knowledge exchange, and driving engagement among multidisciplinary stakeholders in the realm of Responsible AI solutions in health.

On a day-to-day basis, this role will facilitate monthly and ad-hoc meetings with country, regional, and global leaders, support the formation of partnerships and peer-to-peer exchange opportunities, publish and promote relevant resources on HealthAI’s knowledge portal, and continuously engage members through various communication channels including a community discussion platform and social media. This role requires a dynamic and warm leader with strong coordination and project management skills, as well as expertise in AI and health technologies to support CoP members in achieving ambitious goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project management: Plan, coordinate, and lead to ensure timely delivery within budget and scope of the COP objectives while effectively managing resources and stakeholders.

  • Community Engagement: Build an active and growing community of members from Government Leaders and Legislators, Regulatory Agencies, NGOs, Academic and Research Institutions, Civil Society, Technologists, and representatives from the private sector. Proactively engage with prospective and existing members to cultivate a vibrant and inclusive community conducive to collaboration and knowledge sharing.

  • Regular Meetings: Facilitate virtual and in-person CoP meetings on a monthly and ad-hoc basis, including providing logistical support, agenda planning, scheduling, and coordination. Act as moderator and encourage contribution and constructive collaboration between members, including the identification of potential opportunities for peer-to-peer partnerships and learning visits. Determine interest in and organize ad-hoc meetings and working groups to support CoP member collaborations.

  • Annual Gathering: Plan and facilitate an annual virtual or in-person CoP meeting, including managing meeting venues, logistics, member registration, abstracts, themes and tracks, meeting proceedings, and publication of an annual report.

  • Content Curation: Curate and disseminate relevant resources, tools, and best practices within the HealthAI Community to support members in their regulatory endeavors and implementation efforts.

  • Communication: Provide regular updates and sharing of resources to CoP members via regular posts on the discussion platform, social media, and newsletters.

  • Platform Management: Co-create requirements for, select, implement, and manage CoP platforms for member discussion and knowledge sharing.

  • Membership Management: Oversee the formal application process for prospective community members, including initial engagement, application submission, review, and membership renewal procedures. Onboard and support new CoP members, provide support for active engagement, test engagement techniques to drive participation, and celebrate member contributions.

  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively engage CoP members to obtain feedback on experience to inform iterative evolution of the CoP. Identify opportunities for enhancing community practices, processes, and resources based on feedback from members and evolving needs within the Responsible AI for health landscape.

  • Metrics and Evaluation: Establish metrics for evaluating the effectiveness and impact of CoP activities. Actively monitor and report on CoP activity and engagement to the HealthAI CoP, HealthAI, and other stakeholders as needed.

Core competencies

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in community management, stakeholder engagement, or related fields.

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in working in/with partners in both High as well as Low and Middle Income Countries. Experience in the African continent strongly preferred.

  • Broad understanding of Responsible AI principles, regulatory frameworks, digital health and global health challenges.

  • Good understanding of health regulatory processes and practices, ideally including software as a medical device.

  • Experience building or managing an online community of practice is strongly preferred.

  • Exceptional communication skills, able to distill technical and complex ideas into simple, easy to understand resources, and effectively engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders across different geographies and cultural backgrounds. 

  • Ability to describe complex technical details to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Technical proficiency and experience working with virtual collaboration, discussion and knowledge management platforms, as well as experience with content management systems and social media management.

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Proactivity, inclusivity, sensitivity, and flexibility to respond to evolving needs in a dynamic and multi-cultural environment.

  • Passion for driving positive social impact and advancing global health equity through innovative technologies and collaborative approaches.

Qualifications 

  • Advanced degree (at least MSc) in a relevant field such as public health, international relations, communications, or business administration. 

  • Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required. Any other UN official languages would be an advantage.

Other requirements

  • The ability and openness to travel up to 30% of the time.

  • A flexible working schedule to accommodate colleagues and CoP members across a wide range of time zones and geographies, which may include early morning or late evening hours.
